Creative FUNdraising Ideas
Fundraising is a huge part of what keeps Mosaic going and we love seeing the creative ways our supporters get involved! While we do receive some local authority funding, it only covers 15% of what we need, so every cake sale, fun run and charity quiz night makes a real difference.
Here are some fun and inspiring ideas that you can try:
Bad Tie Day: encourage colleagues or friends to wear funny ties for a day, contributing a small fee for the privilege.
Battle of the Bands: host a musical event featuring local talent, charging an entry fee to enjoy the performances.
Open-Garden and Afternoon Tea: invite guests to enjoy your garden in bloom this spring, offering tea and cakes in exchange for donations.
Beat the Goalie: set up a goalkeeping challenge where participants pay to test their shooting skills against a volunteer goalie.
Bungee Jumping: have you always wanted to give it a go? Experience the thrill of a 160ft bungee jump from the Lloyds Amphitheatre in Bristol, all while supporting a meaningful cause.
The possibilities are endless and every event is an opportunity to spread the word about our important work, while meeting new people and having fun.

Support From Schools
Schools can have a huge impact by taking part in our annual fundraising campaign, Miles for Mosaic. Taking place in May, this initiative encourages schools to organise their own running events, choosing a date that fits with their calendar. Whether it’s a fun run or relay, every mile run helps raise vital funds for Mosaic’s work.
Last year, 14 schools in the Dorchester area took part, covering an incredible 5,710 miles – that’s the equivalent of running over 218 marathons, or the distance from Dorchester to India! Thanks to their dedication, we raised over £10,000, ensuring we can continue providing crucial support to bereaved children and young people in Dorset.
Schools can also fundraise through events like bake sales, dress-down days or sponsored challenges. To find out how your school can participate, visit our Miles for Mosaic page for more details.
Support From Businesses
Businesses can support Mosaic through corporate partnerships, employee fundraising initiatives or by sponsoring events. Whether you’re a small local business or a large corporation, there are many ways your company can raise funds for a cause that makes a real difference in the lives of children and young people.
We have a number of yellow Mosaic donation tins in venues around Dorset – if you would like one for your business, please let us know.
Support From Individuals
No matter your age or resources, there are plenty of ways to get involved. You can donate directly to Mosaic, organise a fundraising activity, or volunteer your time to help with our events or support services. You could set up Payroll Giving with your employer, whereby regular donations are taken from your salary before tax, or the Pennies from Heaven scheme allows you to donate the spare pennies from your pay every month. By donating or fundraising, you can help us to offer free, professional support to children and families who are navigating the pain of loss.
The Impact of Donations
Supporters can fundraise through our JustGiving platform or donate directly from here.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps us to provide free services to those who need them the most. Your generous contributions fund bereavement counselling, support groups, residential weekends, activities and resources for schools and families.
Experiencing the death of a loved one has a long term effect on a young person and by leaving a gift to Mosaic in your will, you can support them for years to come. A gift of £600 provides up to 10 therapeutic counselling sessions for a bereaved child. Charitable legacies are a vital source of income for charities and they are entirely free of inheritance tax.
Volunteering
Whether you have a couple of hours or a weekend, volunteering for Mosaic has a lasting impact. Our volunteers play a crucial role in running our events and services, whether it's assisting with fundraising, helping with administrative tasks or offering support on our residentials and activity days.
Everyone at Mosaic is part of a team – we all work together to provide the best support for the children and young people we work with. By volunteering with us, you can give back to your community in a meaningful and fulfilling way and make a real difference in the lives of bereaved children and families.
