Our Mosaic Youth Group
Our voices together will inspire and make the difference
My name is Gabrielle Walker, I am the Chair of The Youth Group and Youth Ambassador for Mosaic Bereavement Charity.
I am currently working as a Teaching Assistant in schools across Dorset, supporting children with SEND through adapting the way I support each individual child to meet their needs and create an inclusive environment for all students.
Mosaic gave me this passion for supporting other young people which has helped me in my career.
I experienced Mosaic bereavement support first hand as a teenager, so the charity has been incredibly special to me since the age of 15. I attended a camp in 2021 when I was 17, which opened my eyes to how much Mosaic do to help young people like myself who are dealing with the grief of a loved one but also how there are so many other young people who are dealing with the same or similar thing.
Witnessing the growth of young people I support in schools has been one of the most precious things I have experienced. One of my goals in life is to make a positive impact on other young peoples’ lives which I have been able to achieve multiple times through my career and within my roles at Mosaic. I hope the Youth Group will inspire more young people to keep building upon the sense of communities across Dorset and support one another through times of need, to know they’re not alone and to always look for positives from something that has been so negative for them.
I am now 21 years old and have an unwavering passion to support the growth of Mosaic in order for young people to receive the fantastic support that Mosaic provides within bereavement.
It is important to me that young people can use their voice especially when it is towards something close to their hearts. The Youth Group will contribute to the operation of the charity and is a place for young people to use their own experiences to advise and inspire Mosaic to help improve the outcomes of the support provided, to reinforce the purpose of the charity and for the young people to have a sense of purpose within themselves and their community.
I am dedicated and eager to give young people supported by Mosaic an opportunity to be a part of this Youth Group. Within this voluntary role, young people will have the opportunity to support event management, attending board meetings, assisting within the office, fundraising, bereavement training, day camps and so much more. It will be a place for young people to express their ideas on the service, develop experience and skills and help them support future ambitions, gain friendships and bring fulfilment for being a part of an incredible charity and the motivation behind the factors contributing to the positive impact it has on other young people's lives.
The future of Mosaic is bright, and I would love young people with the same passion that I have for the purpose of Mosaic to join me and to be the reason that every young person in Dorset gets the support that they need when dealing with a bereavement.
